Tribac Vet injection is a third generation board spectrum parenteral Cephalosporin
antibiotic. It has potent bactericidal activity against a wide range of gram-positive
and, especially, gram-negative organisms. The spectrum of activity includes both
aerobic and some anaerobic species.TribacVet injection like other cephalosporin and
penicillins, kills bacteria by interfering with the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall.
Tribac Vet injection has a high degree stability in the presence of beta lactam, both
penicillinases and cephalosporinases of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Composition:
Each vial contain dry substance equivalent to 2 gm Ceftriaxone USP (as sterile
Ceftriaxone Sodium) accompanied by 7 ml Lidocaine HCI USP.
Indication:
Tribac Vet injection is indicated for the treatment of the following infection when
caused by susceptible organism: Respiratory Tract lnfection,Acute Bacterial Otitis
Media, Skin & Skin Structure lnfetion, Urinary Tract Infection, Bone & Joint
Infection, Bacterial Septicamia, Intra Abdominal infection.
Dosage and Administration:
Tribac Vet may be administered by deep intramuscular or slow intravenus injection.
For deep IM administration:
Cow & Baffa lo: 1 ml/28 kg body weight once daily for 3-5 days.
Goat & Sheep: 1 ml/14 kg body weight twice daily for 3-5 days.
Horse: 1 ml/11 kg body weight twice daily for 3-5 days.
Dog & Cat: 1 ml/11 kg body weight once/twice daily for 3-5 days.
Wild Animal: 1 ml/28 kg body weight once daily for 3-5 days.
For IV administration:
Cow & Baffa lo: 1 ml/10 kg body weight once daily for 3-5 days.
Goat & Sheep: 1 ml/5 kg body weight twice daily for 3-5 days.
Horse: 1 ml/4 kg bodyweight twice daily for 3-5 days.
Dog & Cat: 1 ml/4 kg body weight once/twice daily for 3-5 days.
Wild Animal: 1 ml/10 kg body weight once daily for 3-5 days.

For deep IM injection: Add 7 ml of Lidocaine HCI USP to Ceftriaxone USP 2 gm and
shake the vial well until the powder is dissolved properly.
For IV injection: Collect 20 ml of water for injection BP, add to Ceftriaxone USP 2 gm
and shake the vial well until the powder is dissolved properly.
Contradiction:
It should not be given to animals with a history of hypersensitivity to
cephalosporin antibiotics.Transient elevation of BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen) and
serum creatinine have been observed. Alterations in prothrombin times have
occurred rarely in animals treated with Ceftriaxone. Impaired vitamin k synthesis
or low vitamin kstores (eg,chronic hepatic disease and malnutrition) may require
monitoring of prothrombin time during Ceftriaxone treatment.
Pregnancy and Lactation:
Reproductive studies have been performed in mice and rats at doses up to 20
times the usual dose and have no evidence of embryotoxicity, fetotoxicity or
teratogenicity. This drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.
Low consternation of ceftriaxone are excreted in milk. Caution should be
exercised when it is administrated to a lactating animal.
Adverse reaction:
Hypersensitivity, pruritus, fever or chills, thrombocytosis and leukopenia hemolytic anemia,
prolongation of the prothrombin time, diarrhea, flatulence ,dyspepsia, palpitations.
Precaution:
TribacVet dissolved with Lidocaine should not be administered IV.
TribacVet dissolved with water should not be administered IM.
NB: If any opaqueness or particle is visible in vial after dissolving the contents,
please do not use it.
Drug Interaction:
Ceftriaxone may interact with other medications such as cefoxitin. Ceftriaxone should be
used with cation in receving loop diuretics as the risk of nephrotoxicity may be increased.
Storage condition:
The recommended maximum storage temperature forTribac Vet injection is 25° C. Reconstituted
solution are stable for 6 hour at room temperature in daylight and 24 hours at 5° C.

1 vial, 7 ml Lidocaine HCI USP with a 10 ml Disposable Syringe.
