Composition:

Each ml Chemodine injection contains Sulphadimidine Sodium BP 0.333gm.

Description:

Sulphadimidine sodium is a chemotherapeutic agent which has

bacteriostatic action against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative

bacteria and against a wide range of bacteria & protozoa.

Indications:

Chemodine injection is indicated for bacterial infectious diseases like

bacterial pneumonia, bacterial enteritis, calf scour, col ibacillosis, metritis,

mastitis, joint ill, strangles, actinobacillosis, toxoplasmosis, pasteurellosis,

streptococcal infection of horse and dog, haemorrhagic septicemia and

secondary bacterial infection due to influenza, contagious coryza, foot &

mouth disease (FMO), foot rot, distemper.

Dosage:

For subcutaneous, intramuscular (IM), intravenous (IV) injection.

Cattle, Buffalo, Horse, Sheep & Goats:

Initial dose (1 st dose): 3-6 ml/ 1 0 kg body weight.

Maintenance dose (2nd day onward): 1.5-3 ml / 10 kg body weight for 3-5

days or to be dispensed on the prescription of a registered veterinary

doctor.

Contra-indications:

Do not administer to animals hypersensitive to sulphonamides, or to

animals with severe liver and/or kidney dysfunctions.

Precaution:

In recommended dose, Chemodine injection is relatively safe and generally

have no side effects. But Sulphonamides occasionally cause crystalluria,

particularly when urine pH is low. So adequate water intake should be

ensured during treatment.

Side-effects:

Digestion disturbances, diarrhoea, suppression of immune system,

bleedings, infertility, degeneration of peripheral nerves.

Withdrawal Time:

Meat & milk can be consumed 1 0 days & S days respectively after

completion of treatment.

Storage:

Protect from light.

Store in dry and cool place.

Keep out of reach of children.
