PK5 Vet Bolus 500 mg

DESCRIPTION

PK 5™ Vet is a non-narcotic, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the

2-arylpropionic acid group. It is used as anti-inflammatory, analgesic and

antipyretic drug.

COMPOSITION

Each PK 5" Vet Bolus contains Carprofen BP 500 mg.

MODE OF ACTION

As with most NSAIDs, Carprofen works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes

(selectively inhibiting COX-2 over COX-1) of the arachidonic acid cascade.

Carprofen blocks the production of prostaglandin synthesis, shows

anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity.

INDICATIONS & USAGES

PK 5" Vet is indicated for rapid relief of Pain, Inflammation & Fever in the

following conditions-

• Bovine Respiratory Disease

• Osteoarthritis

• Mastitis

• Metritis

• Soft tissue surgical pain

• Post-operative pain

• Lameness

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION

Cattle, Buffalo:

1 bolus/ 350 Kg body weight once daily

1/2 bolus/ 175 Kg body weight once daily

Or,

1.4 mg/Kg body weight once daily

Horse: 0.7 mg/Kg body weight once daily

Dogs: 2-4 mg/Kg body weight once daily

Birds: 2 mg/ Kg body weight once daily

Reptiles: 1-4 mg/ Kg body weight once daily

Or, as per direction of registered Veterinarian/Consultant.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not use in animals showing hypersensitivity to Carprofen.

PRECAUTIONS

Carprofen should not be used in animals with active GI bleeding or ulceration.

NSAIDs should be avoided or carefully monitored in animals with liver or kidney/

heart disease.

SIDE EFFECTS

There are relatively few side effects assorted with Carprofen. The most common

side effects are diarrhea, vomiting & loss of appetite.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Avoid combining with other anti-inflammatory drugs that tends to predispose

animals towards GI ulcers such as glucocorticoids and other NSAIDs.

USE IN PREGNANCY

In the absence of any specific studies in pregnant cattle, use only according to the

benefit/risk assessment of the responsible veterinarian.

Milk - Zero (0) day

Meat - 21 days

STORAGE CONDITION

Do not store above 25 °C temperature. Keep away from light and wet place. Keep

out of reach of children.
